Optimizing Email Customization for Non-Technical Users

The meeting participants, referred to as State Changers, discussed a use case where a user needs to select and send pre-made emails with the option to make small edits to the content. They explored different options like using rich text editors (such as Quill or TinyMCE), showing the HTML code directly to the user, or using a deterministic generator like Markdown. They also discussed the possibility of allowing plain text edits with a simple set of rules. The participants considered the needs and technical skills of the user base and the scale of the product to determine the best approach. They suggested starting with a manual review process for editable emails and gathering feedback from users to understand their specific needs before investing in more complicated engineering solutions. It was also suggested to explore options like using Gmail or Google Docs for editing and sending the emails. The goal was to find a balance between providing the desired editing capabilities and keeping the technical complexity manageable.
