Discussing Data Structure Modifications and Strategies for Managed Complexity in Xano

The State Changers meeting focused on restructuring existing databases for easier management and better performance. Participants examined a case involving nested objects, specifically a "goal details" object, in a multi-tiered database management system using the "Xano" platform. During the discussion, the participants identified that the nested structure was increasing the complexity of the system, making it harder to manage the data and impacting performance.

The suggested solution was to reimplement the structure as separate tables instead, specifically "user goal" and "user goal line", each corresponding to a unique detail in the user goal item. This would avoid having complex nested objects, promote easier management and improve overall performance. This alternative structure was further elaborated on by creating a function within Xano that connected these three tables. The group also discussed the importance of giving oneself permission to explore different methods and adjust for lesser friction, emphasizing on experimentation and iteration to achieve the most efficient result. Throughout the discussion, participants also mentioned the potential need for numerous technologies such as Integromat, Bubble, Zapier, and more, although they didn't delve into specifics on how these would be applied.
